Four Pressure Profiles™. One Team.

Every athlete faces pressure, but not every athlete responds to pressure the same way. Some become more competitive. Some bring energy to those around them. Some rely on preparation and execution. Others focus on keeping the team connected. The Pressure Profiles™ help athletes and coaches understand these natural tendencies so they can communicate more effectively, develop stronger leaders, and perform at their best when the pressure is highest.

The Dog

Dogs thrive on competition, challenge, and proving themselves. They bring intensity, confidence, and a relentless drive to win. When pressure rises, they often become more aggressive, vocal, and determined to take control.

Parent Tip:

Celebrate their effort and growth—not just the outcome. Dogs often place tremendous pressure on themselves, and they need to know they're valued for more than winning.

Coaching tip:

Challenge them directly, but keep the standard clear. Dogs respond well when they know what winning looks like.

The Spark

Sparks bring energy, emotion, and enthusiasm to the team. They inspire others with their passion and belief, helping teams stay confident and engaged. When pressure rises, they often look to motivate, encourage, and create momentum.

Parent Tip:

Encourage their passion, but help them stay grounded. Sparks thrive on encouragement and belief, and they perform best when they know mistakes are opportunities to grow, not reasons to doubt themselves.

Coaching tip:

Use their energy, but help them reset. Sparks need permission to bring emotion without letting emotion run the game.

The Glue Guy

Glue Guys are the teammates who strengthen relationships and build trust. They naturally support others, create stability, and help keep the team connected. When pressure rises, they focus on helping teammates stay composed and united.

Parent Tip:

Help them find their voice. Glue Guys naturally put others first, so remind them that their thoughts, needs, and opinions matter too. Their confidence grows when they feel seen, supported, and encouraged to speak up.

Coaching tip:

Build trust before pressure hits. Glue Guys respond best when they feel valued, included, and connected to the team.

The Technician

Technicians trust preparation, details, and execution. They excel at studying the game, identifying adjustments, and remaining focused on the task at hand. When pressure rises, they rely on discipline, structure, and doing their job well.

Parent Tip:

Be patient with their process. Technicians often think deeply, prepare thoroughly, and can be their own toughest critic. Encourage progress over perfection, celebrate small wins, and remind them that mistakes are part of growth—not signs of failure.

Coaching tip:

Give them details and a clear plan. Technicians perform best when they understand the “why” behind the assignment.

No Pressure Profile™ is better than another. Every player and coach possesses elements of all four profiles, but most have one or two that are more dominant. Those tendencies have a direct influence on how they prepare, play, lead, communicate, and respond when the pressure is highest.

Great teams need Dogs, Sparks, Glue Guys, and Technicians working together toward a common goal. The key is understanding how each profile contributes, communicates, leads, and responds under pressure.
